Mario Barra started his acting career back in Denver. He assisted Colorado Film School and obtained an Acting Certificate. He also studied with personal couch Bill Smith, and got training from the Denver Performing Arts Center. He has acted in several short films portraying different roles, always willing to adapt any character to his own persona. Mario loves variety and strives to make any character as realistic and natural as it should be.
The short film Guns drugs and synergy, where he portrayed the character of Angel, got an award for the best movie at the Laugh track comedy festival. Mario himself also produced and directed a short film that got nominated in the CFS student show. His performance as a protagonist in the short film Emancipation, left him with a great lesson about himself and how important is to make a protagonist valuable and likable to the audience.
Recently relocated to Los Angeles, Mario has been focusing on getting as much training as possible. So far he has received teachings from Hey I Saw Your Commercial, Killian's Commercial Workshop and Ivana Chubbuck Studio among others, and since he loves comedy so much he has taken classes and performed at iO West, UCB and Second City. He’s constantly striving at getting better in all the disciplines that acting involves simply because he loves it. So far he’s been in a couple of commercials, PSA's, radio commercials and he currently performs with the different Improv Teams.
Originally from Mexico, Mario speaks fluently Spanish and enjoys giving life to characters with the some of the traits that the Mexican culture represents.
Mario enjoys sports and physical activities, as well as a nice walk in a rainy day. Many of his dreams have been accomplished already but the biggest one is still awaiting in the form of a golden award.
